A visual impairment, able to see a distance approximately just over five metres.

AS4 skiers vision is constricted to a diameter of less than seventy degrees and/or they have the ability to detect a squash-ball sized object at a maximum distance of six metres. A guide will ski in front of the athlete verbally giving directions down the course.

Generally, visually impaired skiers all race together as AS1-4 using a factored timing system, which alters the running speed of the clock.
